  • Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy is organised and awarded by the Executive Counselling & Training Academy


Course Commencement: March 2019

ECTA is offering a professional training course - Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.  The training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy leads to the ITAA / ETAA examination for accreditation as a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA).  Success in the CTA written and oral examinations entitle the practitioner to enrol for the MSc in TA Psychotherapy validated by Middlesex University, leading to the MSc in Transactional Analysis award.

Transactional Analysis offers a unique way of understanding personality, behaviour and relationships.  It offers the theoretical framework and relational methodology for an in-depth approach to counselling and psychotherapy.

This 16-month part-time course is a post-degree training course.

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to provide an integrated psychotherapy and counselling training.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, the participants will have achieved:
  • an understanding and knowledge of the theory and practice of transactional analsis in psychotherapy;
  • an in-depth appreciation of what constitutes ethical and professional practice;
  • a sound understanding of the ethics practised by the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) and Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC);
  • an appreciation of the depth and breadth of the therapeutic relationship;
  • an integrative understanding of theories of the self; and
  • an in-depth proficiency with group process and group dynamics.

The course fee includes the treatment supervisory marathon and membership to the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA).

All fees stated are inclusive of the prevailing GST rate and subject to revision.  All fees are in Singapore Dollars and are payable to ECTA.

The administrative fee will be refunded if application is unsuccessful.  For accepted candidates, this is not refundable if applicant withdraws from the course.

Entry Requirements

Psychotherapy is a post-graduate profession and applicants must have obtained the following qualifications:

(a) Master in Counselling, Social, Psychology or Health-related Discipline, and

(b) 180 hours of counselling with direct contact and 50 hours of practicum supervision (individual and group), and

(c) Completion of the "TA101" course

Certificate Awards

Counselling interns who have successfully completed this 16-month course will be awarded with a Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy by the Executive Counselling & Training Academy.
